Mac’s Mission is an animal rescue team located in Jackson, Missouri. They only have a small operation, but every volunteer and rescuer works hard to help special-needs animals live a better life. And they promised to provide the same to Narwhal.
Narwhal came to the rescue earlier this week. He’s only 10 weeks old and was alone when rescuers found him. But while it isn’t strange to find young puppies wandering the streets on their own, Narwhal is a bit different.
The adorable little puppy has a second tail, not on his butt, but his head. Yes, that’s right! Narwhal is a two-tailed pup. People describe him as a “little anomaly that is absolutely perfect.”
His rescue friends named him, “Narwhal the Little Magical Furry Unicorn.” He is the doggo version of the unicorns in our dreams. And there’s nothing more magical anyone could ever see than him.
Rochelle Steffen, the founder of Mac’s Mission, said that since Narwhal came to their care, people have been flooding their center to see him. A lot of volunteers came over and asked if they could see and play with the little doggo unicorn. And, of course, they wouldn’t leave without a selfie with him.
On Tuesday, Narwhal went to the vet for an examination. X-rays revealed that his second tail had no bones in it. It means that he won’t be able to use it or wag it, as he does with his first tail. But most importantly, the vet found him generally healthy.
Mac’s Mission specializes in rescuing and helping animals that would otherwise have no chance of surviving elsewhere. They’ve cared for a 5-legged dog, a 3-legged dachshund, puppies with cleft palate, blind and deaf pets, but nothing like Narwhal.
While Narwhal is healthy and old enough to find his forever family, the rescue said that he wouldn’t be available for adoption until they are confident that his facial tail won’t cause any health or medical concern. They prefer to leave it be but won’t hesitate to have it removed in case it starts growing inwards or gets in the way of Narwhal’s sight.
