Grizzy is a big dog and was adopted by a couple for their son, Luke. What happens when this big guy all of a sudden loses his capability to walk? That’s what happened.
Grizzy was a healthy dog who loved to go on walks and play with his family. One day, out of nowhere, his legs suddenly became lame. The family had him checked, and he was diagnosed with Wobbler’s disease.
The couple wanted to do everything they could for Grizzy, so they opted for him to have the surgery. It was difficult for everybody especially when it comes to carrying the one hundred and sixty-pound weight of Grizzy. They even got a hoist that people use in nursing homes to help him up.
Grizzy was a quadriplegic at this point. Luke was a big help as he continues to spend as much time as he could with the huge canine. The family did the best they could, but Grizzy was still not getting better. The doctor said it would take about four months to see any progress, but four months have passed and still nothing.
The family decided to bring him to rehab. The staff there were incredible as you can see their desire for Grizzy to walk again. While in rehab, Grizzy would try to catch the staff’s attention especially when they were treating another dog.
They don’t always come, and that’s when Grizzy decided to help himself. He wanted to see what was happening outside his dog so he would push himself up and lean his head on the door. This was how Grizzy started to stand up and walk again.
And three days before Christmas, Grizzy defied all odds and was able to walk again! Due to his persistent and determination, and the help of all the staff in the rehab center, he can walk and run again. The best part? He got his best friend back.
