Dog Rescued After Six Years Of Neglect

Imagine a life where you are tied to a short chain, and your shelter is a dog house that is too small to stand up. A neglected dog lived this life for six years before being rescued.

Takis operates an animal rescue in Crete, Greece, and he got a call from a woman concerning a deathly thin dog who was chained up and needed his help. He started Takis Shelter when he noticed how many malnourished animals there were in his area. Takis refused to ignore what was happening to the animals, and he devoted his life to rescue and care for the animals. As of now, he is caring for more than 300 dogs, six goats, 50 cats, and two sheep.

Takis went to the dog’s home and convinced her owner to hand her over. He approached the dog slowly since she was afraid and was barking at him. After all, no human has ever shown her kindness before.

She shrank back to her small dog house, still scared. Takis noted the dog’s long nails and thin body.

He softly told her that they would be friends. The dog finally realized that Takis was there to help.

After the dog went out of the dog house, Takis saw that her back legs weren’t right. He initially thought she was born this way, but he found out that the dog had been chained up since she was 2-months-old.

He removed the dog, now named Libby, from her chain and took her to a carrier. Libby was now free and never to be chained up again.

Libby realized she was free and began running around the shelter.

A little while after getting to the shelter, she began wagging her tail play with the other dogs. Her eyes began shining again, and she found a purpose when she saw and interacted with the abandoned pups.

Libby became a mom to the pups, and they still play with each other even after growing up. She is now living happily and healthily and will be free in the shelter.

The dogs at the Takis Shelter can be adopted, but only if the adopters will come to the shelter. Takis won’t ship an animal because he wants to assure that they won’t be hurt again.
