When the COVID-19 pandemic hit the entire globe, everyone, including business owners, students, and professionals, had to make radical modifications in the way they do things—all for the sake of safety and, at the same time, to keep everything going.
However, this can be a tricky situation. The home is not the ideal workplace for everyone. Unlike in a more controlled environment such as the workplace, the house is the ultimate comfort zone and a place filled with distractions – children, other family members, and pets, to name a few.
As more professionals begin to work at home and online, we’ve heard and seen news of children, pets, or family members making sudden appearances in the background. The worst would probably to experience interruption right in the middle of work.
FOX 13’s Paul Dellegatto, a meteorologist, is also a dog parent to his Golden Retriever named Brody. Just like nearly everyone else, he, too, had his share of experiences with his pet dog interrupting him at work. Not only that, all these interruptions appeared on live television!
On one occasion, Brody climbed on his lap in the middle of his weather forecast and chewed on Dellegatto’s microphone. He had to remind him in the middle of the forecast. Of course, everyone who turned their televisions on and set it to their channel that day saw all of it! There was also a time when Brody made another appearance when he ran across Delegatto’s room after spotting a person standing outside the glass door.
Another time, Delegatto was on duty when Brody suddenly wanted to play ball with him. He even briefly let the viewers see him coach Brody and talk about him as he tried to pull away from the toy from his hand.
The team was on standby, waiting for the President’s statement, and his co-reporters from the studio seem too amused and happy to have Brody as the center of attention.
People don’t seem to complain about it. Moreover, it seems that everyone is happy to see a glimpse of the reporter’s home life, especially his beloved pet. Others even observed the framed photos of Brody on his desk, much to their delight!
While working from home can be difficult, perhaps a bit of humor is all we need, given all the issues and the emotional turmoil we experience every day! It seems that people want Dellegatto to bring Brody with him to work when he returns to the studio!
