As the name suggests, a street dog is a dog that is born without a happy family. No one will take care of them and must fend for themselves. They don’t have access to clean food or water. Sometimes it’s even hard for them to find shelter when it rains or if it’s blistering hot outside.
In many cases, some street dogs get sick because of the dirty food they eat and water to drink. No one will take care of them when they need help. Furthermore, dogs are even consumed in some countries. Dog meat is often considered a delicacy by some culture.
Street dogs are a common problem in many urban areas in the world. Fortunately, volunteers and animal rescue groups worked together to rescue these poor animals from the mean streets of their cities as well as from people who make business eating dog meat.
The pup featured in the video below is a rescued street dog in Singapore that was run over by a lorry. His pelvis was crushed and became paralyzed from the waist down. Luckily a passerby saw the poor pup beside the road and called animal rescue.
Named by his volunteers as Barry, he was seen by a vet who thought that the pup would never recover. However, they were mistaken. After a few days of lovingly taking care of Barry, he started to move. The first movement he ever made was wagging his tail. Eventually, he was able to stand up and slowly started walking.
Although Barry’s gait is still far from normal, he was already strong enough to be placed in a foster home. It will be the first time Barry will experience what it’s like to have a family who loves him no matter what.
The change in Barry’s personality was evident with how he interacted with his siblings and his humans. He was so sweet and so playful that it was hard not to fall in love with the little pup.
