I love a funny dog story, but I also really love the heartwarming rescue stories that bring a tear to my eye. Meet Bobi, a senior dog who was abandoned in Romania, found, rescued, and adopted by a family in America.
In the winter of 2018, a rescue group in Romania received a call about a small, white dog roaming around the railroad tracks in town. The group, named Howl of a Dog, set out to rescue the stray dog. When they got to the tracks, however, they realized the dog would run when they would approach it. Worried the dog would get hit by a passing train; they backed off on their efforts.
The team decided to follow the dog and redirect him to a safe place. The dog eventually obeyed and allowed a staff member to feed it and put a leash on it. The sweet dog, who was named Bobi, was brought to a local vet who determined that Bobi was blind in his left eye. They also microchipped the dog and found out he actually had an owner. When Howl of a Dog reached out to the dog’s owner, the man sadly told the group he no longer wanted his dog.
The group learned that Bobi had run away from home and was some 10 miles away when they rescued him at the railroad tracks. The team was mystified why Bobi’s owner no longer wanted him, as he is an incredibly sweet and docile dog. Although Bobi is nine years old, he still has lots of energy and is eager to play.
Bobi was given fluids, a check-up, vaccinations, and a warm bath at the veterinarian office. At the time this video was made, Bobi was up for adoption. Check out this heartwarming video of Bobi’s rescue below:
The happiest part of this story is shortly after this video was made, a wonderful family in Delaware adopted the nine-year-old dog. Bobi was flown from Romania to the United States to live with his new family. Bobi’s new owners, Donny and Dawn, have lots of experience with older dogs and have adopted many dogs over the years.
