Many people realized that the dogs they have adopted from rescue centers seem to be returning the favor. The people who have adopted rescue dogs are rescuing them in return every day of their life. It’s no secret that dogs have a positive effect on humans. Even just a dog’s mere presence is enough to ward off loneliness.
According to some pet owners, their dogs saved them from depression, sadness, anxiety and their health – daily. So it seems that in their way, these dogs are protecting their rescuers too.
Duke, a rescue dog, saved the life of his baby sister by waking his owners in the middle of the night. Duke jumped into his owner’s bed and started barking and shaking the bed until they were awake. When they commanded him to stop the commotion, Duke was having none of it. That’s when they realized that something must be wrong and that the Duke was only trying to alert them.
Sure enough, when they checked on their baby girl, she was not breathing. Watch the interview below of Duke’s family.
Duke’s family was so grateful for their rescued dog. They had adopted Duke a few years ago before they gave birth to their daughter Harper. The family rescued Duke, and now he is paying back the favor.
Dogs are smart, and even if Duke was not trained to be a professional assistance dog, Duke was able to detect that his sister was having breathing issues. So he woke up his owners.
Duke was a rescue dog, but he proved himself so much more than just man’s best friend. His family was extremely thankful that Duke was there to wake them up only in time to save baby Harper.
